H.Dv. 257 – Schußwaffen 98 –Firearm 98 – This manual was originally published in 1935, but had 15 revisions along the way which updated it to January of 1944. This manual was in effect when the Gewehr 98, 98a, 98b, and K98k were all still being used by the German military. The book states that it applies to all of them. A table is at the back of the book showing each rifle in a top and side view, with another table
showing some of the individual parts. This manual matched up with the 3′ x 4′ rifle poster that was used for classroom instruction, and refers to the letters/numbers of the parts on the table, which also matches the partial table of parts at the back of the book. 22 pages of solid text, 10 pages of pictures. A very informative manual about how the gun works.
