German MG 08 Operators Manual Schmitt - English Translation

Das Maschinengewehr Gerät (MG 08) mit allen Neuerungen - The Machinegun Device (MG 08) with all Improvements - This private purchase manual (Soldiers were often expected to purchase many of their own manuals with their own pay) was published by Schmitt, exclusively for the MG-08. It is not a combined manual with the MG-08/15, and as such, has details for the 08 that aren't in the other manuals. It is 116 pages, with 5 tables (fold-outs) at the end. Four fold-outs are black and white, two of them are over 16" long, and the color picture has been divided into two pictures on separate sheets so that the full 25" picture size could be represented without reducing the overall size. This color picture has the part names of the MG in both German and English (on the color table only). Splitting the long color picture saved $2 in printing costs, and the price of this manual has been reduced by $2 from the previous, single page picture version. Table one (the color picture) is shown below as a single picture, but is now the split picture to reduce costs, Table 2 is a cutaway of the right side of the gun, Table 3 is a cutaway of the left side, Table 4 is the Sled, and Table 5 is the Tripod.
